The COVID levels — on all measures — keep going down for no obvious reason. I don’t care why, I think it’s awesome! I haven’t seen levels this low since summer 2023.

Flu is creeping up, but RSV is this report period’s leader.

Charts

From the BC CDC Situation Report:

Comparison vs. Other Influenza-Like-Illnesses, from the Viral Pathogen Characterization page:

Percent positivity

RSV is the most common infection in this report.

These trends are not unique to BC. In Canada overall, COVID-19 is down, RSV is up, and flu is up a little bit. In US’s northwest region, the influenza-like illness level has only just now (well, the week ending 30 Nov) crossed the baseline level.

In the week ending 30 Nov, among confirmed cases, there were:

  • about 1.3 times as many COVID-19 cases as flu cases,
  • about 60% as many COVID-19 cases as RSV cases,
  • about 90% as many COVID-19 cases as enterovirus or rhinovirus cases.
  • only about 19% as many COVID-19 cases as all the other influenza-like illnesses (influenza, RSV, enterovirus, rhinovirus, adenovirus, human metapneumovirus, parainfluenza, and common-cold coronaviruses combined).

Reminder: the graphs below don’t tell how many cases there were, but how many cases they found when testing. Almost nobody gets tested — but I have no reason to believe that the percentage of sick people who get tested has changed. (If anything, I’d expect more people to get tested now than did in four months ago because people thought they had “summer colds”.)
