The number of cases of COVID-19 reported to the province looks like it is rising. Reported cases are up,but it’s hard to tell because some of the data they usually publish is missing, the number of people with COVID-19 in the hospital is up quite a bit, and while wastewater is noisy, I can convince myself that it is rising.

Charts

The province says they updated the COVID charts, and yeah, they are different — but the 2024-2025 data is completely missing! I reported it to the provincial health department, we’ll see what happens.

The province *just* switched over to the new 2025-2026 season for the BC Viral Respiratory Outcomes Report , so there’s only a few points of 2025-2026 data right in the grey zone, so it looks like there is no data! That also means that the 2022-2023 season has “fallen off” the charts, alas.

Fortunately, the Viral Pathogen Characterization page seems to be working:

In the most recent data (ending 30 August) as reported on 4 September 2025, among influenza-like illness (i.e upper respiratory diseases) cases the province has test data for:

  • 56.9% were COVID-19;
  • 24.2% were entero/rhinoviruses;
  • 7.1% were influenza A or B;
  • 4.1% were parainfluenza;
  • 3.6% were RSV;
  • 2.3% were adenoviruses;
  • 1.5% were metapneumonia viruses;
  • 0.3% were “common cold” coronaviruses.

Wastewater
