Note: against normal practice, I updated the wastewater chart and added a news article about a closed emergency room after I published this post — because of holiday strangenesses and my illness. It’s not likely to be a frequent occurrence.
I thought I was going to give a belated look at last week’s data, but the province released data today, much to my surprise. There will not be an update next week, however. Provincial updates will resume on 8 Jan.
Health System
Late addendum: This article (2025-12-23) reports that the emergency room in 100 Mile House will be closed for 25 hours from 7 a.m. Wednesday 24 Dec to 8 a.m. Thursday 25 Dec.
COVID-19
There is very little COVID-19 right now, especially compared to influenza.
Charts

From the Viral Pathogen Characterization page:

Note: I suspect that the drops in flu and RSV cases in the past week are a holiday artifact.

In the most recent data (ending 20 Dec) as reported on 24 Dec 2025, among influenza-like illness (i.e respiratory diseases) cases that the province has test data for:
- 68.3% were influenza A or B (!!!);
- 11.3% were RSV;
- 7.6% were entero/rhinoviruses;
- 6.7% were COVID-19;
- 2.7% were parainfluenza;
- 1.8% were metapneumonia viruses;
- 1.0% were adenoviruses;
- 0.4% were “common cold” coronaviruses.
