While it definitely looks like levels are going down, BC CDC had a warning this week: “Note: Recent data for severe outcomes (hospitalizations, critical care admissions, and deaths) may not be complete due to the timing of data systems and processes. Data are updated and may become more complete over time.” So maybe it’s not as good as it looks. I hope it is actually as good as it looks.
Statistics
As of 28 March, the BC CDC situation report says that in the week ending on 23 Mar there were: +320 reported cases, +94 hospital admissions, +11 ICU admissions, and +15 thirty-day all-cause deaths*.
In the week ending 16 Mar, they now report that there were +394 reported cases, +104 hospital admissions, +19 ICU admissions, and +21 thirty-day all-cause deaths*.
For comparison, in the previous update (2024-03-22) they reported that in the week ending on 16 Mar there were: +392 reported cases, +92 hospital admissions, +18 ICU admissions, and +17 thirty-day all-cause deaths*.
*All-cause deaths in people who had a positive COVID-19 test in the prior 30 days, that is.
There were 133 people in hospital and 7 in critical care with COVID-19 on 28 March.
